The MNU Men's Soccer team traveled to Central Methodist University and
picked up a 3-1 conference win. The Pioneers are 6-4 on the year and 2-1 in
the HAAC. They have played 9 of their first 10 games on the road and will
now start a much-needed 6 game home stand. "Being on the road this much has
taken it's toll, but I feel like the guys have handled it well," stated
Coach Wardlaw. "Out of the 10 teams we have played, 7 of them either are
currently or have been ranked in the Top 25 this year at some point. It will
be nice to play at home for the next couple of weeks."
MNU got on the board first with a goal by Kent Sloan, assited by Tyler
Alexander at the 38:47 mark of the first half. Early in the second half,
CMU scored a really nice goal to tie the game at 1. MNU missed many
opportunities to take the lead, but finally their persistance paid off with
a goal by Victor Ramirez, assisted by Jon Lemmon at the 79:10 mark. They
increased the lead at 87:03 with a goal by Lucas Rodriguez, assisted by Jon
Lemmon.
For the game MNU outshot CMU 30-7; with SOG being 18-3. Corner kicks were
5-3 in MNU's favor. CMU's GK was credited with 15 saves. Ryan Clemens was
credited with 2 saves for MNU in picking up the win.
The Pioneers will get back on the field on Tuesday against Dana College with
a 2pm kickoff.
